barren like the heart's ponderings
Verse is my second fanlistings collective, created in order to substitute my former one, Letters to You. Care to know about the story behind the making of the new collective? Well, let me tell you a secret.
- Enthusiast 3.1.x has been released looong ago. I had been wanting to convert, but the "BACKUP YOUR DATABASE" part scared me a lot because I was totally unfamiliar with MySQL, so I decided to keep using Enth3.0 for a while.
- One day I was going to transfer my domain and hosting to local companies, so I thought "HAY IT IS ABOUT TIME" since I had to backup everything on my site. So I downloaded the latest version of Enth3.1, backed up my databases and files, then restored them once my hosting server was ready.
- I tried to install Enth3.1.4—like, fresh installation—then restored my databases, and things were not working fine. Especially the Categories part since there had been changes in TFL's categories during the golden period of Enthusiast 3.0; therefore the listing's old categories wouldn't match with the new ones. If I tried to change the category of a fanlisting, it would return with leaving no category selected. Awesome? Heck yes!
- Then things were working fine after I decided not to display the categories. BUT when I visited my collective, there were some database/MySQL errors. I had no other choice in mind: I have to moooove! D:
- At first I wanted to keep the name, Letters to You, but I had no idea what new subdomain would I make with such a name. :| letters.licious.org would sound like a contact page or something. l2y.licious.org is just... no. Thus, I decided to come up with a new name and subdomain. Yes, it's a brand new fanlistings collective!
- As for the new name, I need something that expresses the keywords love or affection. The name Verse (of Love) came from the latest trends in literature and cinema world. In my country at least. No, seriously. Go take a look at online/offline bookstores that sell Indonesian books and you'll see the titles "Ayat-ayat (insert witty word here)". :| Well, this site was not meant to be a trendfollower whatsoever. I just simply adore the original soundtrack of Ayat-ayat Cinta, frankly speaking, more than the book and the movie (although they are obviously quite phenomenal). And I think it pretty much fits what I wanted for the site name, so.. why not ? :3
- For your information, this site has self-translated lyrics of Ayat-ayat Cinta (sung by Rossa) scattered all 'round the pages.
tl;dr much? Well, that's about it, I guess. Haha. :P
thank you for everything
